The Hewitt Equipment Limited fluid analysis laboratory (also called S•O•S Lab) is a preventive management tool offered to all customers in order to learn more about various mechanical component (engine, transmission, hydraulics, etc.) wear trends, as well as the condition of their fluids. Our analysis services are suitable for lubricating oils, coolant fluids and diesel fuel.

Oil analysis

Basic analysis for oils include tests conducted to obtain a reliable and significant portrait of the fluid condition and compartment wear. For a more rigorous analysis, we offer a wide range of additional tests available upon request.

Coolant fluid analysis

For coolant fluid analysis, we offer two service levels. The level 1 analysis is used in a regular preventive maintenance program to detect major problems. The level 2 analysis, involving a more exhaustive chemical evaluation, determines the coolant fluid quality and the condition of the cooling system.

Basic diesel fluid analysis

Contaminated fuel can cause poor combustion, premature clogging, corrosion, problems with injectors, etc. ...

We offer a general assessment of diesel fuel using advanced tools:
  • Spectrometry: Gives an indication of contaminants and metals in the fuel
  • Particle Counting: Evaluates the cleanliness fuel
  • Karl Fisher: Indication of the amount of water present in the fuel
  • Bacteria: Indicates poor maintenance of fuel tanks. Water creates an environment favorable to the formation of bacteria.
  • API gravity: Gives an indication of the fuel composition that may have an impact on performance

Analysis reports on the Internet *

Each analysis report includes measured test data and also provides a customized interpretation with related recommendations. The results are transmitted according to the customer’s preference, either by mail or email.

All results are also available free of charge any time on the Internet application S•O•S Services On-line Email notifications will inform you when your fluid analysis results are posted online. Generate and print reports and graphs of your results.

In addition, our team is totally available to answer all questions related to mechanical equipment fluids.

The more you know about the condition of the mechanical compartments, the more you will take measures to profitably maintain and, thus, maximize the performance and service life of your equipment.
