Handling empty containers is a fast-paced job. Containers have to be moved or stacked quickly and efficiently. They must be stacked high and close together in order to exploit the available land area to the fullest.
As land becomes more and more valuable high stacking and optimal use of minimal ground space become important factors. Kalmar promotes fast and efficient stacking on limited ground area with their two ranges of empty container trucks. The Kalmar ContChamp empty reachstacker is ideal for high top-lift stacking and narrow gangways. The new range of Kalmar empty container handling mast trucks boast the industry’s most stable design and come equipped with side spreaders for twist-lock or hook handling (ideal for double stacking).
Empty container stacking is a time-consuming task that demands precision. Simple and accurate positioning of containers is a must. Therefore, it is important that the truck chassis, the lifting mast and the side spreader are strong and stable. Kalmar’s new DCE-series of empty container lift trucks offers extraordinary stability and cost-efficiency. The series comes in two basic capacities, 7 tonnes or 9 tonnes, for a total stacking of up to 8 cts. An integrated side spreader with twist-locks is standard on these models but the 9 tonne model can be equipped with an integrated, hook side spreader for double stacking. The standard side spreader has a fixed carriage while the hook side spreader can tilt ± 4 degrees. Duplex or triplex masts are available, depending on the lift height needed.
